We are normal people that are excited about what coffee means to us. That means we are passionate about coffee + people. We are committed to pursuing quality and care about serving our customers and our community. A community that reaches from origin to your cup. We are for so much, but at the heart of it, we're for you. Come check out the projects that we are involved in. We love coffee and we love you too.
We are excited to be involved in a special project in Honduras. We are working with a local church St. Thomas Aquinas and Café Hacia El Futuro Co-op in the Copay region of Honduras this year to implement metrics for increasing quality at origin for coming years. Last year we received individual samples from all 14 coffee producers. There was a lot of variety, but definitely some standouts. This year per our request, Hacio El Futuro is separating the top scoring lots for us to offer in our summer line up. We get the opportunity to taste each of these producers coffees individually, so stay tuned for an opportunity to attend a public cupping showcasing their hard work.
Global Builders is a non profit that helps raise money through sourcing and selling Ugandan coffee. Every year students from Ames raise funds in order travel to Uganda in the summer and work on local building projects. These building projects focus primarily on communities in need due to the AIDS epidemic which has left a large number of orphans. This project is dear to our heart for two reasons. First, we get to work hand in hand with Global Builders Group to secure and roast fantastic Uganda coffee from Mount Elgon. Secondly, we have witnessed hundreds of local youth from Ames go to Uganda and spend two weeks working and building these projects. The impact on the community in Uganda and the students make this an incredible project. At Windmill that makes us smile. Check them out at www.globalbuilding.org
This one is exciting. As we have grown in our love for coffee here in Iowa, we have also noticed a dire need for technical service. We know from experience that service is an exciting and complicated industry. We have teamed up with local businesses to take a proactive step in maintenance. We focus on quality equipment supply and service. The combination of full-service, specialized equipment and attention to detail make us a great partner to keep you up and running. Currently we stock parts for Fetco, La Marzocco, and Modbar; but we are quickly growing our inventory.
We aim to provide pillars of quality to your coffee program by serving you with our in-house support teams. We offer technical support, sales support, education and training, and of course the best coffees we can find - roasted to order. Partnering with cafes, restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores is what we do. Windmill Coffee Roasters is here to do whatever we can to ensure the success of your coffee program.
We have two great courses available on our calendar. They are: Seed to Cup and Espresso Level 1. Two more courses are in beta and will be on the schedule for mid summer including a preventative maintenance course. Check them out here!
